Theator was founded based on the realization that there is significant variability in surgical outcomes today — not only in different parts of the world but even within the same hospital. All surgeries, no matter how long or complex, are defined by critical moments. These moments are buried in massive amounts of intraoperative surgical video that today is not routinely captured or utilized for review and analysis, in order to understand what drives better outcomes. Surgical leadership and hospital administrators have little insight into what actually happens in the OR, or why performance and patient outcomes may vary. Without having this level of insight, they are unable to proactively identify opportunities for quality improvement.
