Chief of Staff to the CEO

Location: Palo Alto

Team: Management

Full time

Theator is a well-funded fast-growing med-tech startup headquartered in Palo Alto, most recently recognized as Fast Company’s Most Innovative in Data Science 2021. Our mission is to transform the world of surgical care, tackling variability and disparity, by giving surgeons the data and insights that can make them superheroes. We’re out to make an impact on billions of lives around the world.

Theator has raised to date $18.5M from top-tier investors such as Insight Partners, NfX, Blumberg Capital, KdTVC, Founder and CEO of 23andMe Anne Wojcicki and former Netflix Chief Product Officer, Neil Hunt.

Theator partners with providers, professional surgical organizations, payors, and most importantly – our surgeons to bring our solution in the most non-intrusive way into the workflow of the OR.

We are looking to add a passionate cross functional leader to be the Chief of Staff. This is a highly visible individual contributor position that will report to our CEO, Dr. Tamir Wolf, as his right hand. We see this role as an opportunity to contribute greatly to the company’s working rhythm and culture, observe and understand the inner workings of each function, and actively influence the way things are done.

The scope of this role encompasses all aspects of Theator’s business operations, from strategy to execution. You’ll get to work closely with the CEO, CTO, and other leaders in the organization to understand, and be a part of, what goes on behind the scenes at a fast pace startup. The ideal candidate is a generalist with an eye for detail, a willingness to get into the weeds, and a record of excellence in whatever you do.

If you have a passion for strategic conversations, are hands-on, fast-paced, interested in helping organizations grow, and are looking to join a high-caliber global team, we’d love to talk to you.

Your responsibilities will continuously evolve. You can expect to own and improve company operating cadence, help develop company OKRs, and ensure prioritization and decision-making. You’ll establish relationships and serve as a critical link between dev, research, clin-ops, and our commercial team to increase velocity of product development and deployment. You’ll be expected to lead and deliver on mission-critical strategic initiatives and provide ad-hoc support on projects small to large.

You must be trustworthy, credible, and non-political with high levels of integrity, common sense and judgment to drive organization-wide alignment.

You’re the ideal candidate if you bring –

  • An MBA from a top-tier school
  • A hunger for success and a passion to continuously learn and own more
  • 3-5 years of corporate strategy or business operations experience in professional services/consulting, management consulting, investment banking, VC/PE [healthcare focus preffered]
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects from inception to execution to close-out
  • Experience developing presentations and strategic narratives for executives and senior level stakeholders
  • The ability to multitask and prioritize with changes in scale, scope, and project deadlines
  • Strong problem structuring and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work seamlessly with a variety of personalities
  • Excellent communication skills in written and verbal form
